The World Pickleball League (WPBL) Season 2 has officially commenced with a glamorous Celebrity Pickleball Showdown in Mumbai. This event marked the beginning of India's premier pickleball league, which promises an expanded format, increased competitiveness, and greater exposure for players.

Stars Take Center Court

Some of India's biggest celebrities, including Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Atlee, Riteish Deshmukh, Rakul Preet Singh, and Jackky Bhagnani, participated in the Celebrity Pickleball Showdown. The league's franchise co-owners also joined their team players, treating fans to a high-energy spectacle that combined sports and entertainment.

Expanded Format and Increased Competitiveness

The World Pickleball League now features seven teams, each co-owned by icons from various fields such as sports and entertainment. The league will host 120 matches across 13 days and will welcome 56 elite players from 18 nations.

The World Pickleball League is sanctioned by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), Asia Federation of Pickleball (AFP), and the United World Pickleball Federation (UWPF). This international recognition underscores the league's growing popularity and commitment to delivering a high-quality, competitive experience for fans, partners, and sponsors.

North East Connection and Broader Indian Context

While the event took place in Mumbai, the World Pickleball League has a broader reach that includes the North East region of India. With teams co-owned by regional icons like Rishabh Pant, the league is poised to foster a sense of regional pride and promote the growth of pickleball across the country.
