After a seven-year hiatus, the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) has made a triumphant return to the Indian sports scene. This revival marks a significant moment for Indian wrestling, as the league aims to bring the sport to a global stage while strengthening it at the grassroots level.

The PWL 2.0 is more than just a spectacle; it is a strategic move to elevate wrestling in India. Akhil Gupta, CEO and Promoter of the Pro Wrestling League, emphasized that the league's goal extends beyond entertainment. "Indian wrestlers competing with the best is how champions are built," he said.
Dayaan Farooqui, Chairman of PWL, shares a similar vision. He envisions a structured league where Indian wrestlers can compete alongside international stars, under the spotlight and global attention. The league's revival is, in Farooqui's words, "more about creating a cycle of inspiration and to ignite a spark in young minds."
Building Trust and Transparency
The journey from ideation to delivering a successful league has been challenging. Behind the seamless matches and roaring crowds, months of hard work and sleepless nights were invested. One of the key lessons learned from the first phase was the importance of trust and transparency.
Gupta admitted that their biggest battle wasn't wrestling, but time. He emphasized that transparency and integrity are the two main pillars of PWL.
A Symbol of Tradition and Unity
A unique aspect of the PWL is its trophy, which consists of soil collected from six akhadas across the six franchise states. This symbolizes the traditional mud pits where wrestling was born and carries emotion, sacrifice, and the journey of the sport.

As the crowds return and young fans fill the stands, the response to PWL 2.0 has been overwhelming. For those behind the league, this is just the beginning. Farooqui sums it up simply, saying, "PWL is not a league, it is a movement for Indian wrestling."
