Home Up Update Brings Enhanced Customization to Samsung One UI 8.5

Samsung has rolled out a new update for its Home Up app, bringing deeper customization options and improved user experience to Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5. While the update resolves compatibility issues that arose after the recent update, it also introduces new features and tweaks, particularly for foldable device users.

Deep Customization for Galaxy Home Screens

The latest Home Up update (v17.5.00.18) offers users more control over their Galaxy home screens, allowing for deeper customization of icons, widgets, and folders. The new update features larger folder layouts that reduce clutter and feel less crowded. Additionally, a unified panel brings apps, tasks, and contacts together in one place, making it easier for users to manage their device.

Special Attention for Foldable Devices

Foldable device owners can now choose how many favorite apps appear on the cover screen, providing a more personalized user experience. Samsung has also added a new toggle for users who prefer gestures, enabling them to turn off the gesture for switching to the previous app.

Reducing Clutter and Fixing Bugs

The Home Up update addresses several issues, including layout alignment problems in DIY mode and bugs with the Backup and Restore widgets. Users can now exclude certain apps from the Direct Share panel, making it easier to quickly send things. These improvements aim to declutter areas that were previously left untouched by Samsung.

Caution with Blur Option

While the update brings numerous benefits, there is a potential drawback for users who enable the blur option. Ice Universe, a well-known Samsung leaker, reported that activating the blur feature causes animations to lock up and stutter aggressively, particularly during transitions. This issue highlights the need for users to exercise caution when customizing their Galaxy home screens.

Relevance to North East India and Beyond

The latest Home Up update is significant for Samsung users across India, including the North East region. As more people adopt Samsung devices, the ability to customize their home screens to better suit their needs becomes increasingly important. The update's focus on foldable devices also reflects Samsung's commitment to innovation and catering to the evolving needs of its users.

Looking Ahead

The Home Up update is currently rolling out through the Galaxy Store. For those who have not yet received the update, it is possible to sideload the APK, although this method carries some risks. Samsung continues to improve the software, and once the stable version is ready, more devices will receive both the new OS and Good Lock updates.
